Rainy Summer Weather

So here in Northern Ontario we are having some really rainy weather so I decided since the weather was not outdoor weather I thought I would break out the mini supplies and play around. First I made a bunch of colourful wind chimes, and then I played around with some printables and made a cute dessert set out of glossy photo paper. I printed some small dollhouse wallpaper on the sheet and punched out the plates with a flower punch and traced my jug pattern to make the jug.

Time for minis

I have been working like crazy trying to get some of these mini projects done. The big Teddy bear's picnic rug is finished and is very cute. The other day I was up at Habitat for Humanity store and I found the Christmas lights I having been looking for. They are LED lights that look like miniature bottles. I bought a bunch of packages of replacement bulbs, they come 6 in a package. So I bought a bunch of clear ones and multi coloured ones. Joanne Swanson has a tutorial for turning these plastic covers into alcohol bottles and wine glasses.

So I had to try them out, they are so cute.

This carpet will go on the playroom side of the third floor, I am now working on the smaller carpet for the bedroom side, it will look like the small picture in the corner above the large rug.

And lastly Ethan's garage finally arrived. It is really cute. All he has to is prime and paint it. He is one happy boy.

the doors open and close.

let the minis begin

Now that my crazy scouting year is over for the summer I can get back to my minis and having fun. So lets begin. First on the project list is to do some much needed renovations to the big willow. I decided I wanted to change the look of the twins rooms and make it one combined room, with one theme tat works for Kevin and Olivia. So I choose Teddy Bears with blue as the accent colour. So I tore up the yucky carpet and put down a wood floor using skinny sticks. repainted the window frames and painted the end wall, and center wall blue. I added teddy bear wallpaper to the back wall. I am planning on making the larger side of the room into a playroom, with a tv so they can play video games or watch movies and also add a desk for them to be able to do their homework on. the other side will have their beds and dresser in it. I am also cross stitching carpets for both sides of the room, the bedroom part will have a smaller teddy bear rug while the larger side will have a teddy bears picnic rug, this second rug is the one I am currently working on.

The pattern I got off of Pinterest, the little pattern for the smaller carpet will be the one I use for the bedroom side of the room, There is also a pattern for a throw pillow, I will make some of them too.

Nursery carpet

I finished the nursery rug I was cross stitching. While on Pinterest the other day I came across a set of miniature printables that I completely fell in love with. The are from Japan, the labels are in english but the tutorials for putting them together are in Japanese, but they provide lots of pictures. I think they are designed for miniature shops and school houses. I printed some for my sweet shop and started making them. They have all kinds of them.from sweets to sewing items to food items to bath supplies to school house items.

Here is baby Emma sitting on her new carpet.

These are rolls of cookies, they will be great additions to my sweet shop.

a new baby

There is a new baby in my miniland. My wonderful friend Phyllis gave me a tiny baby she had made out of polymer clay. She had planned on using the baby for her house, but it was too big, so she gave it to me to keep for my dolls since they are larger than hers are. Originally she had named the baby Jethro, but since my nursery is all pink. Jethro does not seem to fit this tiny baby. So her new name is Annabelle, and she looks so adorable cuddled in Jennifer's arms.

little projects

The little projects I started the other day I finished with the exception of the nursery rug, which I am still working on.

Here is baby Emma playing in her new sandbox I made out of toothpicks and poster board. The sand pail I got in a package at Micheals in there mini section. The shovel is made from paper and a piece of wire glued to it.

The caterpillar is together, and yes it rolls.

the little jubilee cakes have been iced and the jam added to the centers of them.

For the time being all I have is time for little projects. Scouts have me so busy for the next month. So for now these minis are perfect for that. So back to my binder to see what else I can make.

Minis in progress

I don't know about you,but lately I have become nuts over Pinterest. I have found tons of miniature tutorials on how to make all kids of stuff from flowers, to toys, to wonderful mini food. There are some really cute stuff out there. So for days I spent cutting and pasting and printing out some of these wonderful tutorials. I now need a bigger binder.

So I took some pictures of some of the little projects I started, they are not finished, once finished I will post pictures of the finished minis

This is the new rug for the nursery in the Willow, now that the nursery has a hardwood floor, it needs a rug for baby Emma to play on.
The Avocodos are a tutorial from Joanne's Minis, the little yellow circles are wheels for a caterpillar toy for baby Emma.

This is the rest of the caterpillar toy.

These are little cake, they need the "jam" added to the center.

I also have a sand box in the works too, but I forgot to take a picture.

So as you can see I have gone a little nuts over tutorials lately but they are so much fun.

Willow House renvation begins

For a while now I have needed to change the willow a little bit. the felt carpets were starting to stretch and get yucky looking so I decided while I was doing the floors in Grandma's cottage I would redo the Nursery and the children's rooms upstairs to the hardwood floor look. I also needed to make doors for the bathroom ad master bedroom. when I built the house I never got around to adding the baseboard trim to the rooms. So last night I decided to start working. Well I am happy to announce that the Nursery has a new floor and most of trim. the master bedroom has a working door and trim. The bathroom also has a working door.

So It is a start, I will work more today while the kids are still home on Easter break. They go back tomorrow.

I think the floor looks 10x better than before.

Happy Easter

I want to wish everybody a very happy Easter. The Easter bunny arrived here late last night and left a treasure trove of goodies for the 4 children in this house. On to the mini side of things I have been very busy finishing up the swaps that I had signed up for. Well I can tell you this much they are finished. So in between the swaps  I worked on a few minis, some for Easter, others just for fun.

This bunny cake was a video my friend Joanne from Joanne's minis blog did up. I actually made this cake in real life for Ethan's birthday a couple of years ago.

These are two yummy cheese cakes, I wanted to try using the new mod podge dimensional magic to see what would happen to added decorations on top of the cakes. I made an orange cheese cake and a raspberry swirl cheesecake. I like how they came out.

This tiny church is a printable tutorial from Joanne Swanson. She has awesome printies. If you have never checked her out you should, I will warn you her site could become addicting.

So until next time have fun playing ad crafting.

another update

WOW, two updates in one day. I guess  was busy. So I finished the trim on the front of the shop. Now I need some sort of fancy trim for the top of the shop. I also finished the planter I will be making for a up coming swap for one of my swap groups I am involved in. Now I have to make 6 more. And then I added a German Shepherd to the meta tub I bought a while back at Micheals. He will sit in the grooming part of the shop, I used mod podge dimensional magic for the fake water. I love this new product.

the flowers in the planter are a lavender plant in the middle with marigolds around the edge.

my little friend enjoying his bath.

So that was my Saturday. Now to watch some TV and go to bed.

pet shop update

well I have been slowly working on the pet shop, I decided this week I would work on the outside trim of the shop. I chose black to match the inside trim.

If you look closely you can see I added the third shelf which holds the small animal food and on it.

Friday 28 March 2014

finally an update

I know it has been awhile since I blogged, but life has been crazy around here. In between the craziness I managed to get some done. The pet shop is coming along very slowly. I printed off the brick paper for the outside of the shop. I have started putting it on the walls and I really like the look so far.

Here is the cute little turtle and guinea pig I made out of clay.

The brick paper on the outside of the pet shop

I made the little turtle a home. The blue water is made from modpodge  dimentional magic.

This shelf is for the grooming room in the pet shop. It has animal shampoo and flea control as well as fluffy towels.

pet shop fun

So over the weekend I was able to get some more done on the pet shop. I went to Micheal's the other day and was able to get more of the cat ribbon so I fixed the back wall, so that is one problem solved. I was able to get the books and magazines done for the racks on the front and side of the counter. I also made the shelf to house the cat supplies.

the bowl and the container of dog treats on the counter were given to me by some mini friends.

birthday swap

My birthday swap arrived yesterday afternoon, all I can say is that the ladies in my swap group really out did themselves once again. This swap has to be one of my favourites. We get to pick the themes we want and then we get to make what is on the lists of things the ladies ask for. This year I chose three of the shops I will be working on. I chose petshop, flower shop and sewing/fabric shop. And by the looks of the gifts I received I better start working on the sewing shop.

Here is what I got from my talent group of friends.
Thanks ladies.

pet shop minis

So over the weekend I was able to get enough dog printables done to fill the first shelf I built. I also was able to install the book racks on the counter. Now on to the cat shelf

Pet shop

Well the pet shop walls are all up and papered. The floor is in. I have put together the counter, which needs a coat of paint and some decoration on the front, I might install a book rack for the mini how to care for animals books. So besides the outside needing to be done ( I have not really figured out the look of yet, I am kind of thinking brick in maybe greys) I am going to concentrate on the little things for the inside. With my birthday being Monday my family bought me some gift cards for Micheals so I purchased some more minis (yes micheals appears to be selling minis). I bought another dog house with puppy and a little bird in a white wire cage and a large wash tub that could be used to bathe a large dog in.

Tonight I am planning on printing a bunch of printables I have saved on the computer and I will take them with me this weekend to camp and work on while my cub pack watches the jungle book and falls asleep. that should keep me busy.

I am still waiting for my birthday swap box to arrive, so as soon as I get that I will post pictures of the wonderful items.

Here is the completed frame of the pet shop

Now that I look at the counter I am going to install magazine racks to hold the little books.
They will be attached to the front and side of the counter.
